Marie Elizabeth was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, in 1980. She grew up in Port-au-Prince; Somerville, Massachusetts; and Brooklyn, New York. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, from CUNY: Hunter College in 2003; a Masters of Arts degree from Rutgers University in 2007, and her Juris Doctor from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 2016. She is the recipient of the 2015 New York Bar Foundation Trusts and Estate Law Section Fellowship where she interned in the chambers of the Honorable Robert J. Gigante, Richmond County Surrogate Judge.
Ms. Villefranche was admitted to the New York State Bar in 2017 and, as an attorney, is a member of the New York State, New York City and Nassau County bar associations. She also mediates cases for the New York Peace Institute.
