James was born in Bronx, New York and is a graduate of Archbishop Molloy High School in Queens, New York. Jim earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from St. John’s University College of Liberal Arts in 1986 and his Juris Doctor from St. John’s University School of Law in 1990. He was admitted to the New York State Bar and the United States District Court, Southern and Eastern Districts of New York in 1992. He was admitted to the Colorado State Bar in 1994.
After nearly 20 years as a sole practitioner, Jim joined Kerley, Walsh, Matera & Cinquemani, P.C. as a Partner in 2013. He manages the Trusts and Estates, Medicaid Planning, Elder Law, and Real Estate Departments.
He is a member of the New York State and Nassau County Bar Associations, and, the Trust and Estates and Elder Law Sections of the New York State Bar Association.
Outside his roles as an attorney, Jim is a past president of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick on Long Island. He is currently a member of the Eden II Board of Trustees and serves on several committees as well. Eden II provides school age, day-hab and residential placement for children and adults with Autism and other developmental disabilities. Jim also serves on the fundraising committee of Camp Northstar which was created to provide “Camping Experiences” for children and adults with special abilities. Jim created “Rockin for Autism” which raises money for children and adults with autism and other developmental abilities. Jim is also a board member of the Irish Monument Committee, a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
